Take a Shine to Our New Ocean Sunfish
An ocean sunfish (Mola mola) has recently been added to our Open Sea exhibit. A sunfish can dive to depths of 1,800 feet, or it might be seen laying flat on the ocean's surface, sunbathing. Scientists theorize this helps warm up its body after deep dives.

The impacts of climate change are growing. Major scientific reports confirm extreme weather events, like the devastating wildfires in California, are getting worse as a result of man-made carbon pollution.
